Introduction:

Kane Brown Headed to Italy for Movie With Close Friend Taylor Lautner - 98.5 The Bull

Kane Brown Talks “Backseat Driver,” Health Journey, Cars, and Acting Debut on The Bobby Bones Show

Kane Brown stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to talk about the success of his song “Backseat Driver,” which is quickly climbing the charts and closing in on the No. 1 spot. While music was the starting point of the conversation, the country star opened up about much more — including his health journey, love of cars, and his upcoming acting debut.

A Health Transformation

Brown revealed that he recently completed a 60-hour fast, which inspired others on his team — and even Bobby Bones Show producer Abby — to try it as well. The fast, he said, was the reset he needed to change his lifestyle. “I went from wanting to lose weight to wanting to be a bodybuilder,” he admitted. His first meal afterward was chicken and vegetables, though a mishap with black pepper nearly closed his throat.

Today, Brown says he feels “10 years younger” and has become fascinated with the science behind health and wellness, doing extensive research while sticking to his fitness goals.

Fast Cars, Big Investments

The singer also shared his passion for cars. Recently, he bought a Lamborghini Spyder — a purchase he never imagined making. Brown said he began investing on his own and taught himself enough to reward himself with the luxury car. Still, being over six feet tall makes driving it a challenge. “There’s no room. I have to slide down in the driver seat just to see out the windshield,” he joked. After four months, he admitted he got bored and decided to put more money into the car.

Acting With Taylor Lautner

Another new venture for Brown is acting. He is set to star alongside close friend Taylor Lautner in the upcoming film The Token Groomsman, which will soon begin filming in Italy. Lautner plays the lead role, while Brown portrays his best friend who encourages him to attend a wedding. Though he didn’t audition, Brown did a few Zoom calls to prepare and credited Lautner for helping him land the part.

The Story Behind “Backseat Driver”

Brown also shared the backstory of “Backseat Driver.” Though it sounds like a song he might have written himself, he didn’t. The track had been floating around Nashville for 4–5 years, with many artists putting it on hold but never recording it. Brown decided to cut it because it felt like his own story.

He related it to his upbringing, explaining that while he can’t take his kids to McDonald’s now — “my wife would kill me” — his parents often took him there growing up. He also teased a new song that he describes as an “old era of KB, but with a twist.” After stepping away from social media due to mental health struggles, Brown says he plans to return stronger than ever to promote it.

A Fun Name Story

Fans also learned a quirky fact about his name: Brown’s mom claimed she named him after the wrestler known as the Big Red Machine, though he discovered that the wrestler debuted after he was already born. She also said he would’ve been named Skyler if he were a girl. Growing up on his baseball team, he recalled the funny coincidence of being Kane Brown while another teammate was named Kane White.

With a hit song, a health glow-up, a Lamborghini in the garage, and a movie role on the horizon, Kane Brown’s 2025 is shaping up to be one of his busiest — and most exciting — years yet.
