During a recent appearance on the *Great Company Podcast*, the “Heaven” hitmaker opened up about the first time he met Katelyn, revealing that fate — and a little persistence — played a big role in bringing them together.
The two were initially supposed to meet when Katelyn, who is also a singer, was filming a music video that Kane was set to appear in. However, a scheduling conflict prevented it from happening. “I ended up having my very first show that day,” Kane recalled. “We didn’t actually meet until a year later at one of my shows in Florida.”
That chance encounter changed everything. “We ended up meeting at a Florida show, and then she was driving home,” Kane said. “I messaged her, and then she came to Nashville and just never left.”
While Kane admits he’s usually slow to let people in, Katelyn seemed to know instantly. “She messaged her friend and said, ‘I’m marrying this guy,’” he laughed. The couple’s first lunch together sealed the connection. “I thought she was beautiful and the sweetest person ever — almost too good to be true,” he said.
Kane also revealed that Katelyn had “no idea” who he was when they met. “I had just kind of gone viral,” he explained, sharing that she was initially reluctant to attend his show but was convinced by a mutual contact. “Turns out she’s literally the sweetest human being on Earth.”
The couple married in 2018 after getting engaged the previous year and have since built a beautiful life together, raising three children — daughters **Kingsley** and **Kodi**, and son **Krewe**.
For Kane, family is his greatest achievement. “I never really had that family thing,” he said, reflecting on his difficult childhood. “So I’m still learning as a dad. For me, being a dad was just being there for my kids. I never had that.”
He credits Katelyn for teaching him what a loving, connected family looks like. “She had a big family — normal Christmases, everyone together,” he shared. “Now, our Christmas takes hours because we do breakfast, open toys, and just spend time together. And that’s what makes me happiest.”
