Kane Brown Calls for Unity After Charlie Kirk’s Tragic Death
Country star Kane Brown is urging compassion and unity following the shocking death of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, who was fatally shot on Wednesday, September 10, during an event at Utah Valley University. He was 31.
Though Brown did not mention Kirk by name, the singer posted a raw, emotional video on Instagram that night, asking his followers to set aside division and simply “love each other.”
“I’m getting mad, man, ’cause I don’t know what to say,” Brown admitted, visibly shaken. “I’m very uneducated on this stuff… at the end of the day, dude, all I want is everybody to love each other. That’s really all I want.”
Brown continued, stressing that differences should not stand in the way of compassion:
“Left side, right side, Black, White, different language speaking, different country living… just love each other. If you see somebody down, please pick them up. I’ve been crying for two hours. This is the first video—now I’m just getting mad, because something’s telling me that I have to post this. I don’t do politics. That’s not for me. I just want y’all to love each other, bro. It’s really not that hard.”
The “Heaven” singer closed his message with a plea for kindness, urging fans to take action in their daily lives:
“I love you guys, and I hope you—if you need to hear that, if you need to hear it, I love you. And I want you to go and hug somebody else that you love, and tell them that you love them, okay? Pick them up, make them feel special. God bless you guys, I love you, goodnight.”
Shortly after, Brown shared more tributes on his Instagram Stories, expressing heartbreak over the deadly Evergreen High School shooting that occurred the same day. He also posted a photo of Kirk with his wife and two young children, accompanied by a broken-heart emoji.
Kirk’s death has sparked widespread reaction across the political and entertainment worlds. Stars including Candace Cameron Bure, Pat Boone, Melissa Gilbert, Jason Aldean, and Jimmy Kimmel have spoken publicly about the loss. Former President Donald Trump also confirmed the news on Truth Social, calling the conservative activist “legendary.”
As of Wednesday night, NBC News reported that the gunman responsible for Kirk’s killing remained at large.
