Kane Brown Talks New Album, Family, and a Hilarious On-Air Apology

Country superstar Kane Brown recently appeared on the Bobby Bones Show to celebrate the release of his new album, “The High Road.” The interview, however, started with a moment of comedy as host Bobby Bones and his co-hosts addressed a public apology from Lunchbox, a member of the show.

Lunchbox had previously apologized on air for what he believed was a major social faux pas. Over the holiday break, he had seen Kane Brown at a festive event with his family and, according to his own telling, had yelled out his name loudly, worried he had “blown up his spot” and disturbed his private time.

When asked to recall the event, Kane simply smiled and said, “It was the most normal conversation.” He explained that Lunchbox had simply said “hey” and that there was no loud yelling or drama. Kane had already commented on the show’s Instagram post to clarify that the interaction was completely normal. This led to Bobby and his co-hosts teasing Lunchbox for “exaggerating” the story for a good bit of content.

A New Album and Deeply Personal Songs

The conversation shifted to Kane’s new album, where he revealed a more vulnerable side of his creative process. He explained that a song on the album, “Backseat Driver,” which he did not write, resonated with him deeply because it brought back memories of his childhood. He also shared that he has been holding on to another song, “Be a Boy,” for years, because he feels he hasn’t been able to do it justice yet. The song, which is about growing up without a father, holds immense emotional weight for him.

He also talked about the collaborative nature of the new record, featuring artists like Jelly Roll on the track “Haunted,” and Brad Paisley on another song. He even has a duet with his wife, Katelyn, on the song “Body Talk.”

The “High Road” Tour and a Softball Game Redemption

In closing, Kane also discussed his upcoming “The High Road” tour, which kicks off on March 13th in San Diego and will take him across North America and Canada.

The interview ended on a lighthearted note as the group reminisced about a recent celebrity softball game. Kane shared a hilarious story of his redemption after a rough start, which included dropping a pop-up and striking out. He credited softball legend Jenny Finch for helping him regain his confidence, which led him to hit a home run and make a game-saving play.
