Introduction

Kane Brown has achieved his 14th top 10 hit on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as his song “Backseat Driver” climbed to No. 10 on the survey dated May 3rd. According to Luminate data from April 18th to 24th, the song experienced a 7% increase, reaching 16.4 million audience impressions.

“Backseat Driver,” penned by Jacob Davis and Jordan Walker and produced by Dann Huff, is featured on Brown’s album “The High Road,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart in February.

This latest success underscores Brown’s current strong performance on the Country Airplay chart. The 31-year-old artist is in the midst of an impressive streak of seven consecutive No. 1 singles, a feat that ties him with Jelly Roll, whose song “Liar” held the top spot for six weeks starting in February. Brown’s most recent chart-topper was “Miles On It,” a collaboration with Marshmello, which led for one week in November, marking his 12th No. 1. His streak of No. 1s began with “Famous Friends” featuring Chris Young in July 2021 and continued with “One Mississippi” (March 2022), “Like I Love Country Music” (August 2022), “Thank God” with Katelyn Brown (February 2023), “Bury Me in Georgia” (September 2023), and “I Can Feel It” (March 2024).

Meanwhile, Jelly Roll is aiming to extend his No. 1 streak with “Heart of Stone,” currently at No. 39 on Country Airplay, and “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” his collaboration with Christian music artist Brandon Lake, which moved up to No. 56.

In other chart news, Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” held the No. 1 position on Country Airplay for a second week. The song is the title track from Wallen’s upcoming 37-song album, due out on May 16th. Two other tracks from the album are also gaining traction on the chart: “Just in Case” climbed to No. 21, and “I’m Not Coming Back” featuring Post Malone debuted at No. 36.
