Kane and Katelyn Brown on “Thank God,” Anxiety, and Life as a Power Couple

In a recent interview, Kane Brown was joined by his wife, Katelyn Brown, for her first-ever guest appearance, where they discussed their hit duet “Thank God,” their family life, and Katelyn’s journey overcoming performance anxiety.

Conquering the Stage: A Terrifying but Proud Moment

Katelyn admitted to feeling “absolutely terrified” about performing live for the first time. Unlike most artists who start in small venues, she debuted on a sold-out stage with her superstar husband. She recounted the intense anxiety she felt backstage, but ultimately pushed through, driven by the desire to be proud of herself. “I knew I would be so proud of myself if I was like, ‘I did that’,” she said. Kane, a seasoned performer, was confident in her, telling her, “She’s very bubbly and a people person.”

The couple’s duet “Thank God” was an instant hit. Kane revealed he knew it would be a smash from the beginning, not only because of Katelyn’s singing talent but because the song’s authenticity as a love song sung by a real-life couple was undeniable. Katelyn, who has a background in music and had been singing since she was a child, said she felt comfortable recording in the studio, which she described as her “happy place.” However, the live performance aspect is a different story, and she plans to take “baby steps” in the future.

Family Life and a Love for Parties

The couple also shared insights into their family life. When asked about throwing a lavish first birthday party for a one-year-old, Katelyn, a self-proclaimed lover of parties, said she believes it’s more for the adults—a way to celebrate their first year of parenthood. Kane, who initially thought it was a waste of money, admitted that the memories and pictures made it “definitely worth it.”

The conversation also touched on Kane’s love for video games, which Katelyn says is a constant presence in their home. Kane even has his own gaming room, which sometimes leads to late-night noise that Katelyn has to manage, especially with the kids sleeping.

On Authenticity and Mental Health

Katelyn and Kane also addressed the public’s perception of her joining him in the music industry. They were initially concerned that people would think she was using her husband for a career. However, the sincerity of their relationship and the song’s genuine feel quickly won fans over. Katelyn shared that she has since taken a break from social media, a step she took for her mental health to be more present with her kids. “Reading comments and stuff like that… it can be negative,” she said, acknowledging that people often fixate on one bad comment despite many positive ones.

The interviewer praised Kane for his authenticity and for being a role model for other artists who want to stay true to themselves. He also commended Katelyn for being so good at performing despite her anxiety, and for not letting outside perceptions deter her from doing what she loves.

The interview ended on a light-hearted note, with Kane and Katelyn sharing a story about a trip to Europe where Kane chose to stay in the hotel and play Xbox rather than go out, something Katelyn laughingly blamed on him and not her. The couple’s easygoing dynamic and mutual support were evident throughout the conversation.
