Reba McEntire shared a heartfelt tribute on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, remembering Joe Bonsall, the longtime member of The Oak Ridge Boys, who passed away the previous day, Tuesday, July 9, at the age of 76 due to complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In her post, McEntire called Bonsall “a terrific entertainer, singer, and a wonderful friend,” expressing she would miss his “smiling face and bubbly personality,” and included a photo of them together from the 5th ACM Honors in 2011. McEntire’s condolences were among many from the country music community and fans, including Blake Shelton, Sara Evans, and Travis Tritt. Bonsall’s family also released a statement, expressing “our loss is Heaven’s gain” and thanking everyone for their support. Per Bonsall’s wishes, there will be no funeral; instead, the family encouraged donations to The ALS Association or the Vanderbilt Medical Center ALS and Neuroscience Research Center and requested privacy at this time. Joe Bonsall is survived by his wife Mary Ann, two daughters, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister.
