Great news for fans of the Bee Gees and legendary director Ridley Scott!

Despite earlier reports of a budgetary dispute with Paramount that temporarily sidelined the project, **Ridley Scott’s Bee Gees biopic is now officially back on track.** The film, which will delve into the lives and careers of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, is expected to begin production in **November 2025**.

Scott himself confirmed this timeline during a conversation celebrating the 20th anniversary 4K Ultra HD release of his 2005 classic, *Kingdom of Heaven*. When asked about his next project after *The Dog Stars*, which was recently filming in Italy, he stated, “I am… the Bee Gees in November.” He also indicated that Paramount would likely still be backing the film, saying, “I think so. That’s what I dare say.” It seems the earlier dispute has been resolved, or at least navigated, pushing the project back slightly but not derailing it entirely.

This biopic marks new territory for Scott, who has largely avoided the music biopic genre. However, the story of the Bee Gees—from their formation in 1958, their ascent to stardom, and their defining role in the disco era with the *Saturday Night Fever* soundtrack, to their complex family dynamics—offers compelling narrative potential. Scott plans to explore their journey “from eight years old to the end,” focusing on the brothers as a creative unit and a family. He emphasized, “It’s really about the brothers and how close the brothers were as a gifted family… I think Barry very much was the leader of them, but then Robin also had the voice initially and was also a very good writer. They were a fulfilled team.”

The sole surviving member of the trio, Barry Gibb, will serve as an executive producer on the yet-untitled film, with Graham King, Stacey Snider, and Michael Pruss joining Scott as producers. While the production team is in place, the cast remains unannounced. However, Scott teased that he has “footprints and handprints, or requests is a better way of putting it, on those names,” suggesting that casting announcements may not be far off given his typically fast-paced production schedule.

Before diving into disco, Scott also recently had the opportunity to showcase his original vision of *Kingdom of Heaven* on the big screen for its 20th anniversary. The director’s cut, with an additional forty-five minutes of footage, is now available in 4K and is hailed as a modern masterpiece.

Fans can look forward to a deep dive into the lives of the Bee Gees, brought to the screen by one of cinema’s most prolific directors, starting production towards the end of 2025.
