Norah Lee Allen, the beloved wife of Duane Allen, lead singer of The Oak Ridge Boys, passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 76. She had been battling an extended illness and died at 7:28 a.m. CT on Easter morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Duane shared a heartfelt message expressing gratitude for the support and prayers from friends and fans during her nine-week hospitalization .

Born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Norah Lee began her musical journey at the age of three, singing with her sisters in The Stuart Sisters Trio, formed by their father. In 1968, she joined the legendary country gospel group, The Chuck Wagon Gang, where she honed her vocal skills. A year later, she married Duane Allen, and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and music. In 1975, Norah Lee became a part-time background vocalist at the Grand Ole Opry, and by 1980, she was a full-time member, performing with the Opry Staff Singers for over 40 years. Her exceptional talent led her to collaborate with numerous country music legends, including Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Loretta Lynn, among others .

In 2022, Norah Lee Allen was inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, recognizing her significant contributions to the music industry and her enduring legacy in country music .

Norah Lee is survived by her husband, Duane; their two children, Jamie Allen Martin and Dee Allen; and four grandchildren. Her family was at her bedside during her final moments, cherishing the time spent together. Duane expressed his profound gratitude for the love and support they received, noting that their home is filled with cherished memories of Norah Lee .

A public visitation and service were held at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee, on April 2, 2024, to honor and celebrate Norah Lee Allen’s life and legacy.
