“Anymore,” a poignant country ballad, stands as one of Travis Tritt’s most impactful and enduring songs. Released in September 1991 as the second single from his “It’s All About to Change” album, it swiftly climbed the charts, securing the number one spot on both the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs and the Canadian RPM Country Tracks charts.

The song’s creation is a story in itself. Tritt co-wrote “Anymore” with Jill Colucci, with the initial spark occurring during an airplane flight. Colucci presented Tritt with a melody, and together they began crafting the lyrics. As the plane landed before they could complete the song, they reconvened in the studio six weeks later to finalize their work.

“Anymore” is known not only for its heartfelt lyrics and Tritt’s powerful vocal delivery, but also for its compelling music video. The video, directed by Jack Cole, tells a dramatic story of a Vietnam War veteran named Mac Singleton, played by Tritt, who is confined to a wheelchair. This video was the first of a trilogy, with subsequent videos “Tell Me I was Dreaming” and “If I Lost You” continuing Mac Singleton’s story. The “Anymore” video received considerable acclaim, even earning a place on CMT’s “100 Greatest Country Music Videos” list.

The song’s emotional depth resonates with listeners, exploring themes of vulnerability and the struggle to express deeply held feelings. “Anymore” solidified Travis Tritt’s position as a prominent figure in country music, showcasing his ability to deliver powerful ballads that connect with audiences on a profound level.
