Meet Willie Nelson's Children Including His Daughter He Only Found Out In 2012

WILLIE NELSON – THE FATHER OF A MUSICAL “EMPIRE” WITH NINE CHILDREN

Willie Nelson – the legendary name of American country music – is not only known for his signature raspy voice, timeless melodies, and pioneering role in the outlaw country movement, but also for his eventful journey as a father to a total of nine children. At 88, that number may sound overwhelming to many – but for Willie, family has always been the heart behind every spotlight.

Willie first entered fatherhood during his marriage to Martha Matthews, with whom he had three children: Lana Nelson (born 1953) – the eldest daughter who remains deeply involved in both his personal life and career, famously inspiring the album Shotgun Willie after Willie retaliated against her abusive husband; Susie Nelson (born 1956) – author of the well-known memoir Heart Worn Memories; and Billy Nelson (born 1958), who sadly died by suicide on Christmas Day 1991 – a loss Willie has called the most devastating moment of his life.

His life then moved forward with Connie Koepke, who gave birth to two musically gifted daughters: Paula Nelson (born 1969) – a singer, DJ, and radio host; and Amy Lee Nelson (born 1973) – a member of the folk duo Folk Uke, known for her talent yet private lifestyle.

During his fourth marriage to Annie D’Angelo, Willie welcomed two of his most prominent children: Lukas Nelson (born 1988) – a celebrated country rock musician, member of Promise of the Real, and collaborator with Neil Young and Bradley Cooper on A Star Is Born; and Micah Nelson (born 1990), a wildly creative multi-artist with a free-spirited artistic soul.

But the story did not end there – in 2012, Willie made a surprising discovery: a long-lost daughter named Renée Nelson, whom he unknowingly fathered decades earlier. Despite learning of her late, he immediately embraced her – and even became a great-grandfather.

He may have been rebellious, controversial, and far from perfect – but in the eyes of his children, Willie Nelson has always been the father who never gave up on love and family.
