Introduction
Country music legend Willie Nelson built a cozy log cabin retreat in Tennessee, and after four months on the market, the home sold for $2.14 million. The property, nestled on 150 acres of scenic land just 30 minutes from Nashville, features three bedrooms, one bathroom, a barn, and several ponds.
The rustic home is full of charm, with wood-beamed ceilings, stone accents, and a large porch that looks out onto peaceful, tree-filled surroundings. Inside, the log walls, vaulted ceilings, and retro touches—like a golden chandelier and a Persian red rug—give it a warm, welcoming feel.
Willie crafted the home himself, and he and the current owners are the only people who have ever lived there. A unique red roof adds character, while the open kitchen and living area offer plenty of natural light and cozy vibes. Upstairs, a loft serves as the third bedroom and is accessed by a wooden ladder.
But the house holds more than just rustic beauty—it holds a legendary story.
In 1970, a fire broke out on the property. In an act of courage, Willie rushed into the flames to rescue two things dear to him: his beloved guitar Trigger and a pound of marijuana. That moment of bravery inspired his hit song “Shotgun Willie,” and later, the album of the same name.
Now 89 years old, Willie Nelson will turn 90 this April, just three months after the sale of the house. He recently appeared on Dolly Parton’s Christmas special and continues to make headlines.
Willie’s story is far from over. A five-part documentary, Willie Nelson and Family, will debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2023. Directed by Oren Moverman and Thom Zimny, the film dives into Willie’s remarkable life—from triumphs to trials—and includes interviews with his family and close friends. It’s the first official, in-depth documentary about the country icon, and promises to be a heartfelt tribute to his legacy.
