Kane Brown brought plenty of energy to Chicago as he prepared to headline Saturday night at Windy City Smokeout, but his conversation with the hosts was about much more than country music. The singer opened up about his dramatic fitness journey, his unusual fasting routine, his tattoos, and the real meaning behind one of his most popular songs.

Brown revealed that he began his transformation with a 68-hour fast, which lasted about two and a half days. Although many people assumed he had gone without food for a full week, he explained that the shorter fast was part of a broader effort to change his lifestyle. After hiring a trainer, Brown and members of his team began researching nutrition and fitness, eventually developing a much stricter daily routine.

The country star also shared that he had gone four months without drinking alcohol. Windy City Smokeout marked his first drink since April. Brown admitted that having a drink helped him feel more comfortable performing in front of a large crowd, especially because he does not consider himself naturally outgoing. With a laugh, he described tequila as his “liquid energy.”

What Kane Brown Won't Let His Kids Do Until They Move Out

The conversation then turned to tattoos. Brown previously discussed a complicated tattoo experience and his plans to have one removed. During the interview, he explained that he had undergone anesthesia while getting another tattoo covered because of significant scar tissue and nerve damage. The experience was so intense that he reportedly moved during his sleep. More surprisingly, Brown said that after changing his body and losing weight, he realized he disliked the appearance of his body more than the tattoo itself.

One of the funniest moments came when the hosts asked about the lyrics in Brown’s hit song “Miles on It.” The song includes the line about being together in a truck bed “wide like a California king,” followed by a suggestion that they could “break it in.” Brown clarified that the lyric was inspired by his teenage and young adult memories of camping in the back of a pickup truck. Instead of sleeping in a tent, he would put an air mattress in the truck bed and sleep there beside the campfire.

As Brown prepared to take the stage, the atmosphere was clearly electric. Despite his strict fitness routine and healthier lifestyle, he was ready to embrace the night, entertain the Chicago crowd, and enjoy the Smokeout experience. For Kane Brown, the weekend offered a chance to celebrate music, share a few laughs, and perhaps start a new annual tradition.
